Honors Program requirementsOnce admitted into the Honors Program, a student must enroll in a minimum of nine semester hours per semester and must maintain a 3.4 cumulative GPA. Those with Honors Scholarships must enroll in a minimum of 12 semester hours per semester. If the student’s cumulative GPA falls below 3.4, the student will be placed on probation for one semester but can continue to take Honors courses and otherwise participate in all Honors activities. If the student’s cumulative GPA is still below 3.4 at the end of the probationary semester, the student will be suspended from the Honors Program but may reapply to enter the Honors Program if his/her cumulative GPA returns to 3.4 or higher. Students not in the Honors Program may enroll in Honors courses, space permitting, during regular registration, so long as they have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. The Honors Committee is amenable to petitions of exception to any of its rules and will consider such petitions on a case-by-case basis. The Honors Program director must be able to contact Honors students quickly and easily. Thus it is imperative that Honors students keep the director abreast of current phone numbers and regularly check their campus email addresses. Honors students are required to check their e-mail at least once a week for messages from the director. The director uses campus e-mail addresses; thus, it is the Honors student’s responsibility to maintain vigilance for communication via campus e-mail. The CSU Honors Program requires that students successfully complete: ● Nine semester hours of Honors core courses ● Four on-campus enrichment courses (HONS 3000) ● Nine semester hours of Honors Contracts ● One Off-campus enrichment course (HONS 4000) ● A thesis and oral defense (HONS 4001) or alternative to the thesis (HONS 4002)
