Honors Program

Entering Freshmen

High school students who are applying for admission to Columbus State Unviersty, and meet the following criteria are encouraged to apply for admission to the Honors Program:

  • Earned a combined score of 1200 or higher on the SAT Math & SAT Verbal score with a 550 minimum on both math and verbal subsections, or an ACT comprehensive score of 27.
  • Achieved a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher, based on high school academic courses only. **

Admissions Information

To apply for admission students must:

  • Complete and submit the linked Honors Program Application Form.
  • Provide two letters of recommendation from college or high school faculty -- not from high school counselors. Letters may be on the designated Recommendation Form or on letterhead stationery.

Honors Scholarship Information

When applying for admissions to the Honors Program, students may also apply for our competitive Honors Scholarships that may be awarded up to $13,200.

  • Complete the Honors Scholarship Application Form.
  • Write an essay (on designated topic listed on the Scholarship Application Form).
  • Provide two letters of recommendation from college or high school faculty -- not from high school counselors. Letters may be on the designated Recommendation Form or on letterhead stationery
  • If invited, participate in an interview with representatives of the Honors Committee, chaired by the CSU Honors Program director.

**Students enrolled in developmental courses or in courses to remediate college Preparatory Curriculum deficiencies may not enter the CSU Honors Program. In certain cases, the Honors Committee may consider exceptions to the admission criteria. In general, only those students entering as freshmen are eligible for Honors Scholarships. If a student receives an Honors Scholarship, the student automatically is enrolled in the CSU Honors Program.
